Youth Empowerment Conference

The Youth Empowerment Conference took place at Peoples Park Machakos County. The event attracted more than 6000 youths from Machakos County and its environs. It was hosted By H.E Dr Alfred Mutua, the Governor of Machakos County. 

The aim of the conference was to link the unemployed youth to employers, to provide scholarships for youth in vocational training centers and to link businesses to funding financial institutions like Uwezo Fund and Women Fund.

The dignitaries invited for the occasion included Nadia Ahmed Abdalla and Zachariah Kinuthia Mugure   both Chief Administrative Secretaries  in   the Ministry   of    ICT, Innovation & Youth and in the ministry Education respectively. The media houses that covered the event included NTV, Citizen, KTN and other local media.

The Vice-Chancellor, Machakos University Prof. Lucy Irungu who was the Keynote Speaker on the topic “TVET Education and Employability” was represented by Prof. Charles Ombuki-Dean, School of Business and Economics. He was accompanied by Dr. Ann Kalei-Lecturer and Educational Advisor to His Excellency the Governor of Machakos County-Dr Alfred Mutua, Ms. Margaret Ndunge-Lecturers-School of Business and Economics, Mr. Joel Mulelu-Director-TVET,  Mr. Geoffrey Masinde-TVET Coordinator, Ms. Doreen Kanini- Cosmetology Instructor-TVET, Mr. Adam Shisia and Ms. Valarie Katemi-from Directorate of Corporate Affairs , Public Relations and Marketing.

More than 1000 students from Machakos University attended the conference.
