The 3rd Kenya Universities Performing Arts and Film Association (KUPAA) Music Festivals

In celebration of musical talent and creativity, Machakos University Choir proudly represented the institution at the 3rd Kenya Universities Performing Arts and Film Association (KUPAA) music festivals held from March 17th to 22nd 2024, at The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM).

The KUPAA music festival is a student-centered event that provides a platform for young artists to explore diverse categories and genres of music. It also provides an invaluable opportunity for students to not only exhibit musical prowess but also enhance talents in composition and performance.

In this year’s festival, our students made a mark across various categories including music, dance and elocution. Led by the talented Choir patron, Mrs. Rose Munywoki and Mrs. Betsy Nzuki, our students delivered outstanding performances that captivated the audience and earned them three trophies and five good certificates out of seven categories. Notably, the students secured a first place in the choral verse in the ladies’ category. African folk song earned them a second place with an impressive score of 93%, leading to an invitation to a gala concert. Additionally, the students achieved a second place in African folk-dance, a special own composition for the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) which earned them position two and were placed third in the Shairi for the male category.

We extend our congratulations to Machakos University Choir for the remarkable achievements at the KUPAA National music festivals.
