Students of Machakos University plant 2000 trees
His Excellency, the Deputy Governor, Machakos County-Eng. Francis Maliti joins Students of Machakos University led by their student leaders in planting 2000 trees as they implement presidential directive that students should plant trees under the Adapt a Tree Initiative. This is part of the National strategy to have 10% tree cover by the year 2022.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Lucy Irungu acknowledged the active participation of Machakos University students and implored them to take the exercise seriously. Quoting from the late Prof.Wangari Mathai, the Vice-Chancellor said planting trees gives hope for the future and that trees planted today will in future attract rain and water that will preserve lives and give hope to thousands of our people.
