Machakos, 28th February 2025 – Machakos University marked a significant milestone today as it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of its perimeter wall project. The event, led by the University Council Chair, Dr. Gatama Gakahu, was attended by university officials, contractors, and stakeholders, signaling the start of a transformative infrastructure upgrade aimed at enhancing the institution’s security and aesthetic appeal.

The project, which Corban Construction Limited is undertaking, is expected to bring a modern and visually appealing perimeter wall to the university. During the ceremony, engineers from the construction firm unveiled detailed plans and timelines, assuring stakeholders of their commitment to timely delivery and high-quality workmanship. The project is set to commence fully on the 10th of March 2025 and is scheduled for completion by the end of June 2025.

Dr. Gatama Gakahu emphasized the importance of the project in creating a secure and attractive environment for students, staff, and visitors. “This perimeter wall is not just a physical structure; it is a symbol of our commitment to providing a safe and conducive learning environment. It will also enhance the university’s image, making it more appealing,”

The project will involve a team of professionals, including architects, structural engineers, and electrical engineers, who will work together to ensure the wall is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The electrical engineers will focus on installing modern signage and lighting, further boosting the university’s visual appeal.

The second phase of the perimeter wall project is part of Machakos University’s broader efforts to modernize its infrastructure and improve the overall experience for its students and staff. Once completed, the wall is expected to provide enhanced security while contributing to the university’s reputation as a leading institution of higher learning in the region.

As the university looks forward to the project’s completion in June 2025, the groundbreaking ceremony has set the stage for a new chapter in its development, one that promises to blend functionality, security, and modern aesthetics for the benefit of future generations.
