MACHAKOS UNIVERSITY CHARITY CLUB VISITS TERRY'S CHILDREN'S HOME

On December 2nd 2023, Machakos University Charity Club embarked on a heartwarming mission to Terry’s Children’s Home. Terry Child Support and Youth Resource Centre (Terry’s) is a national non-partisan, non-profit NGO with its head office in Machakos County, Kenya. The purpose of the visit was not only to extend a helping hand in cleaning but also to spread joy through thoughtful gifts. Terry’s Children’s Home, located along Kathiani Road, Machakos, Kenya, is a beacon of hope founded in 2002 by Reverend Leah HSC. Their mission revolves around empowering orphans, children, and youth, offering holistic care, advocacy, networking, and psychosocial support.

Organized by the Charity Club leaders led by Ms. Rispa Oenga as the patron and members of staff and students of Machakos University, the visit was a collective effort aimed at making a positive impact. The six-hour visit encompassed various activities such as cleaning, interaction with both children and staff and playful moments with the children.

The visit was driven by a desire to understand the living conditions of the children, assess their needs, and offer assistance where possible. Activities included washing clothes, cleaning dormitories and engaging with the children to provide not just material support but also companionship and care. Through this initiative, Machakos University Charity Club reaffirmed its commitment to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children, embodying the spirit of compassion and community service.
