Machakos National Show Leadership Team Pays a Courtesy Call to the Vice Chancellor

On Tuesday, May 7^th, 2024 Machakos South Eastern Kenya team, led by the Chairman Mr. Lawrence Matolo, had the honor of meeting with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joyce Agalo, to discuss potential areas of collaboration in branding and sponsorship for the upcoming Machakos National Show.

In attendance was the Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Stanley Makindi, responsible for Research, Innovation, and Linkages, as well as the Registrar Research, Innovation and Linkages Prof. David Mulwa, who is spearheading the university’s participation in the event.

Machakos University has a rich history of participation in the agricultural shows, having engaged in seven previous exhibitions. With the forthcoming South Eastern National Show on the horizon, discussions centered around how Machakos University could contribute to and benefit from the event.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor emphasized on the role agriculture and trade plays in shaping Kenya’s economic landscape, particularly amidst the ongoing global shifts. The theme for this year’s show, Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth, holds significant relevance in today’s context and promises to be enlightening for all stakeholders involved.

As a demonstration of our commitment, the university pledged to provide expert judges from School of Engineering and Technology and School of Agriculture, Environment and Health Sciences. The experts will evaluate and recognize excellence during the event.

This partnership between Machakos University and Machakos South Eastern Kenya team not only reinforces the university’s dedication to advancing agricultural innovation but also highlights its role as a key contributor to sustainable economic development in the region.
