Unveiling of the Establishment of the Kenya EPIP Centre

Machakos University became host to the Kenya Engineering Practice, Innovation and Project (EPIP) Research Centre which was Unveiled on Sunday, 3^rd September, 2023.  Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of Machakos University, Prof. Joyce Agalo, mentioned the milestones that the collaboration between Machakos University and Tianjin City Vocational College had yielded over the years. These included the establishment of the Luban Workshop which has attracted visitors from within and outside the country for benchmarking and training, introduction of BSc in Cloud Computing and Information Security course. Machakos University students taking the course have benefitted from the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Programme; among other benefits from the partnership. The VC added that the establishment of a Confucious Institute to teach Chinese language within the University will enable the rolling out of effective Student and Staff mobility programme. In his opening speech the Deputy Director of Hebei District Education, Bureau of Tianjin; Mr. Lv Jiahua commended the progress that the two institutions have made towards the implementation of the MoU. He applauded the two institutions for establishing the Kenya EPIP Research Centre and confirmed his full support in running the center. The event was graced by Mr. Alex Zhou from Huawei Kenya, Liu Sheng Deputy Vice Chancellor of Tianjin City Vocational College, Dr. Geng Jie Researcher at the Vocational Education Research Centre of Tianjin Academy of Educational Science, and Yu Zhenzhen, English teacher of Tianjin City Vocational College later met with the students. Others included Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, Vice-Chancellor, Meru University of Science and Technology and Ms Caroline Ikiriinya from Konza Technopolis.
