ASSESSING MACHAKOS UNIVERSITY’S PREPAREDNESS FOR RE-OPENING
On Friday, 18th September, a supervisory team from the Ministry of Education, led by the Permanent Secretary for University Education and Research, Amb. Simon Nabukwesi toured Machakos University. The PS was accompanied by the Director of University Education Mr. Dairus Ogutu Mogaka and Mr. Samuel Mugambi, the Chief Finance Officer (MoE). To receive the team on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor Prof.Lucy Irungu were members of the management led by Prof. Peter Mwita-DVC in charge of Research, Innovations and Linkages.
The aim of the visit was to assess the University’s preparedness towards its re-opening and the COVID-19 prevention measures put in place to ensure the health and safety of staff and students.
The PS noted the progress of the University’s Covid-19 mitigation efforts and endorsed its continued initiative to offer virtual learning and online admissions to ensure that operations of the University are not halted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
